A little about me…

Imagine a place in 21st-century America where kids grow up milking cows by hand and still prefer “hide and seek” to video games. Where families laugh together around the dinner table every day. Where gardens bloom, children splash in the creek, and newborn lambs bleat in the springtime. Where divorce is unheard of and friendships last a lifetime. Where the aged and infirm are cared for by loving family, not institutions. Where children are educated by parents and trusted friends, not strangers. And where babies are born at home, tended by generational midwives who share the parents’ faith, culture, and values.

Enter the world of Amanda Lancaster, born and raised in the intentional Christian community known as Homestead Heritage—begun in 1973 and now a thriving network of church communities around the world.

Amanda Lancaster and her husband Dan have eight children, all born and educated at home. She is Certified Professional Midwife and paramedic as well as wife, mother and writer.

Amanda has delivered well over 500 babies within her faith community. Dedicated to a life of Christian charity, she performs all her services free of charge as a voluntary healthcare ministry, not as a professional practice.

Amanda also teaches high school writing and English literature, writes and develops home school curriculum for Hearthstone Curriculum and speaks at conferences around the world on Christian womanhood, home education, and the challenges of raising special needs children.

When she’s not occupied with baby deliveries, teaching or writing, Amanda loves tending her large family garden, crocheting her own unique line of handbags, hiking and camping in the great outdoors, and cooking with her children.
